Today marks another major milestone for Super Earth Invasion: Phase 2 of the final development loop is officially complete. With momentum building and the finish line in sight, I wanted to share some foundational decisions that are shaping Phase 3 as we move toward release.
Core Systems Taking Shape
As SEI approaches its final form, a few key systems needed to be locked in. Here’s where things are landing:
1️⃣ Aliens — Unique Passives & Abilities
Every alien will now come with one distinct special ability or passive, giving each species its own identity and encouraging varied playstyles.
2️⃣ Ships — Defined Base Stats
Ships will have clear, foundational stat profiles:
- Base HP
- Shield Strength
- Regeneration values
These will form the backbone of your build.
3️⃣ Boosters — Movement Speed Mods
Boosters will primarily revolve around movement speed enhancements, giving players more control and agility as the chaos ramps up.
4️⃣ Weapons — Primary & Secondary
Straightforward, powerful, and build-defining. Enough said.
5️⃣ Ship Mods — The Real Buildcrafting Begins
This is where things get fun. Ship mods, combined with aliens, ships, boosters, and weapons, will open the door to unique builds, synergies, and experimentation. We’re still finalizing how ship mods themselves will upgrade, but the direction is exciting.
A Major Change to Gear Upgrading & Loot
One of the biggest decisions made today involves how gear works moving forward:
❌ No More 100-Level Upgrade Grinding
Most equipment will no longer upgrade through the old 100-level system. Ship mods are still being decided, but everything else is shifting to a cleaner, more impactful design.
✨ Unique Gear & True Legendary Drops
Blueprints and loot tables are evolving. Instead of handing players cookie-cutter blueprints, SEI will now generate unique gear pieces based on several factors behind the scenes.
This means:
- Drops feel truly special
- Legendary items actually feel legendary
- Performance is improved
- And the system creates far more room for future updates and expansions
This was a massive improvement, both technically and for gameplay.
What’s Next — Phase 3 Begins
Over the next two weeks, I’ll be:
- Implementing every system mentioned above
- Tweaking numbers and tuning balance
- Constructing more Structures 2.0
- Continuing polish across the entire game
And on top of that — in about three weeks, I’ll be meeting with a voice actor to record alien voices. This is going to add a ton of personality and charm to the world of SEI.
